President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi condemned the shooting incident that occurred last night in the vicinity of the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which was attended by US President Donald Trump, stressing Egypt’s categorical rejection of all forms of political violence and terrorism.

President Sisi said in a post on Facebook that he followed with great interest the shooting incident that occurred near the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner, stressing his condemnation of this criminal act.

The President affirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of all forms of political violence and terrorism, considering them a serious threat to the security and stability of societies.

President Sisi expressed his satisfaction with the well-being of US President Donald Trump, wishing him continued health and wellness, and the friendly United States security, stability and prosperity.

Shooting at Trump administration officials

A security scare occurred at the White House Correspondents' Dinner after an armed man stormed the entrance to the banquet hall inside the Washington Hilton Hotel, where US President Donald Trump and several senior US officials were present, before being arrested by the Secret Service.

According to CBS News reports, the suspect told law enforcement after his arrest that he had been planning to shoot Trump administration officials, while California authorities confirmed that he had no criminal record and was not known to security agencies.

US security sources reported that the attacker was carrying guns and knives, and managed to reach the outer lobby before rushing towards the celebration hall, where he was quickly intercepted by Secret Service agents and prevented from entering.
