Kenyan Sebastian Sowe successfully completed the London Marathon on Sunday in a time of 1 hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds.
With this, the Kenyan became the first runner in the world to complete the race in less than two hours.

The distance is estimated at (42.195 kilometers), which he managed to cover in less than two hours after his victory, with a time of one hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds.
Sawai, 31, who has never lost a marathon, broke the world record previously held by Kelvin Kiptum, who clocked 2 hours and 35 seconds at the Chicago Marathon in October 2023.

In the race, Ethiopian Yomif Kegelcha chased Sawi for most of the distance before falling behind in the final meters to finish second.
He achieved a time of 1 hour, 59 minutes and 41 seconds.
Meanwhile, Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo won the bronze medal in 2 hours, 2 minutes and 28 seconds.

In the women's race, Ethiopian Tigist Assefa, 29, broke her only world record during her victory in the London Marathon.
The Ethiopian runner overtook Kenyans Helen Obiri and Joycene Jepkosgei in the final stage of the race to cross the finish line in 2 hours, 15 minutes and 41 seconds, breaking the record of 2 hours, 15 minutes and 50 seconds that she set last year in London.
