Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni affirmed his country's full commitment and continued readiness to contain the Ebola outbreak, stressing the need for swift action and enhanced regional cooperation to curb its spread. disease spread.

Museveni’s remarks came during his meeting with the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, at the Presidential Palace in Entebbe, where the two sides discussed developments in the health situation and efforts to control the virus.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials from the Ugandan Ministry of Health, along with representatives from the World Health Organization office in Uganda, as part of coordinating joint efforts to address health threats.

The Ugandan president explained that his country remains on constant alert, stressing that strict measures are being taken to limit the spread of the virus within the borders, including strengthening monitoring and rapid response systems.

Museveni noted that Uganda is working closely with neighboring countries, particularly the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has recorded some cases, to ensure the outbreak is contained and cross-border transmission is prevented.

The moves come amid growing fears of a resurgence of the Ebola virus in the region, making it imperative to intensify international and regional efforts to prevent the health situation from worsening.
