Growing rapprochement between South Sudan and China within the framework of a historic partnership

Meeting between the South Sudanese Foreign Minister and the Chinese Ambassador

Ambassador Mandi Semayah Kumba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, met with Ambassador Ma Qiang, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of South Sudan, in a fruitful meeting that addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

The meeting provided a constructive platform to enhance close coordination and exchange views on issues of common interest, within the framework of the strong and historic partnership between the Republic of South Sudan and the People’s Republic of China.

Cooperation between South Sudan and China

Both sides affirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation and joint work to achieve common priorities and to push bilateral relations towards broader horizons.

In another context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mandi Semaya Kumba, received today, Monday, at his office, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation of the Republic of Uganda, John Mulimba, within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the bilateral talks, both sides affirmed the strength of the historical relations and the established partnership between South Sudan and Uganda. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest, including border trade, economic cooperation, and high-level exchanges of visits.

Political developments in South Sudan

The South Sudanese Foreign Minister also briefed his Ugandan counterpart on the latest political developments in the country, in addition to discussing other issues of common interest.

For his part, the Ugandan minister expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality he and his accompanying delegation received in South Sudan, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination between the two countries in various fields in a way that serves common interests and enhances development priorities.
