Strengthening the partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tanzania

Dr. Badr Abdel-Aati received Foreign Minister The Ministry of International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad received a phone call today from Mahmoud Thabet Kombo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Republic of Tanzania, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and exchange views on issues of common interest in the African continent.

transfer Foreign Minister The Tanzanian President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, conveyed her greetings to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, expressing her country’s appreciation for the tangible development witnessed in Egyptian-Tanzanian relations during the recent period.

For his part, Minister Abdel-Aati praised the growing momentum in bilateral relations, stressing the keenness to continue strengthening cooperation in various fields, especially economic, investment, trade and development, in a way that supports Tanzanian national efforts to advance the development process and achieve the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

The two ministers also praised the tangible progress in economic and development relations between the two countries in recent times, stressing that the Julius Nyerere Dam project, which is being implemented by Egyptian companies in Tanzania, represents a successful model of strategic partnership and development integration between the two countries, and a milestone in the course of bilateral relations.

In this context, the Tanzanian minister praised the high efficiency and accumulated experience of the Egyptian companies operating in Tanzania, and the important role they play in implementing major national and development projects.

In the same context, the call addressed the ongoing preparations for the African Union’s mid-year coordination summit, which Egypt is scheduled to host next month in El Alamein. The two ministers stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation on the issues on the joint African action agenda, in order to support integration and development efforts and enhance joint continental action.

Regarding water security, Abdel-Aty stressed the importance of cooperation and integration in the Nile River to achieve common benefit and mutual interests, highlighting the importance of adhering to the spirit of consensus and brotherhood to restore inclusiveness in the Nile Basin Initiative, and rejecting unilateral actions, welcoming the positive developments in the NBI initiative’s consultative process to restore inclusiveness in accordance with international law, in a way that achieves mutual benefit for all Nile Basin countries.
