Historic achievement.. President Sisi congratulates the Egyptian team on qualifying for the Round of 16 in the World Cup

هنأ الرئيس عبدالفتاح السيسي، رئيس جمهورية Egypt العربية، أبناء مصر أبطال المنتخب الوطني لكرة القدم على الإنجاز التاريخي، بالتأهل إلى دور الـ 16 لكأس العالم لأول مرة في تاريخ المنتخب.

وقال الرئيس السيسي في تدوينة له على منصة إكس، تويتر سابقا: لقد أثبتم أن الإيمان بالقدرة، والتنافس بروح الفريق والتصميم على الفوز يحقق الإنجازات.

وقال: كل التوفيق فيما هو قادم، وبإذن الله تستمر مسيرة الإنجاز والفخر.

The Egyptian national team qualified for the round of 16 in the World Cup for the first time in its history, after defeating its counterpart, the Australian national team, by penalty shootout 4-2 in the match held today at Dallas Stadium in Texas.

The regular and added time ended in a 1-1 draw between the two teams. The Egyptian national team took the lead with a clean goal scored by Emam Ashour in the 13th minute with a perfectly placed header, before the Australian national team equalized with an own goal scored by Mohamed Hany into his own net from a cross that he headed into the net.

The Egyptian national team continued to make history in the 2026 World Cup, after scoring 6 goals in the current edition, achieving their best goal-scoring record in their World Cup appearances.

The Egyptian national team became the third Arab team to score six or more goals in a single World Cup edition, raising their total to 11 goals across all their tournament appearances.

Egypt's national team has also joined the list of top-scoring Arab teams in a single World Cup edition. This list is led by Morocco in the 2026 edition and Algeria in the 2014 edition, with seven goals each. Meanwhile, the Egyptian team is tied with Morocco in the 2022 edition with six goals.
