Comoros hosts diplomatic training course to enhance the capabilities of African personnel
Official opening of a diplomatic training course in the capital, Moroni
Under the patronage of Mohamed Mbaye, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Union of the Comoros, the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries inaugurated a specialized training course in the diplomatic field in the capital, Moroni, on Monday, May 4, 2026, with broad participation from personnel. This course comes as part of efforts to support and develop the professional capabilities of diplomats in countries Africanand enhance their skills in the areas of international work and multilateral cooperation.
The training course is attended by 50 Comorian diplomats representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of government institutions. The program runs from May 4 to 7, 2026, and includes a series of lectures and specialized workshops aimed at raising the efficiency of participants in the fields of modern diplomacy.
Sharing Egyptian and African expertise in training
The course is supervised by Ambassador Ayman Musharrafah, former Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, who offers his expertise in the field of diplomatic work and international negotiation, which contributes to transferring the Egyptian experience to young African cadres.

This comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries and the member states of the Arab League.
The opening ceremony of the session was attended by Ambassador Mohand Saleh Laâdjouzi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Director-General of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries, along with a number of senior officials in the Union of the Comoros.
Among those present were the Minister of Post, Telecommunications, Digital Economy and Transparency, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in addition to the President’s Advisor for Arab Affairs, the President’s Advisor for Islamic Affairs, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
This high-level official attendance reflects the importance of the training course and the growing role of Arab-African cooperation in supporting state institutions and building human capacities.
Strengthening the Arab-African partnership
In his speech during the opening ceremony, Ambassador Laajouzi expressed his thanks and appreciation for the generous patronage provided by the Comorian Minister of Foreign Affairs for this session, noting that this is the second edition to be held in the capital, Moroni, which reflects the depth of the partnership between the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance and the Union of the Comoros.
The ambassador also conveyed the greetings of Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, stressing his great interest in supporting the Union of the Comoros, especially in the field of training diplomatic personnel and enhancing its presence on the international stage.
Course Objectives
The training program aims to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in international negotiation, conflict resolution, and multilateral mechanisms, in addition to reviewing the latest contemporary diplomatic practices. The program also focuses on strengthening joint African action and the exchange of experiences among countries, contributing to the development of institutional performance and enhancing the efficiency of Comorian diplomats.
This course is an important step in a series of training programs aimed at supporting the capabilities of African countries in the diplomatic field, and enhancing Arab-African cooperation in the areas of development and human capacity building, in line with the accelerating regional and international challenges.
