Nigerian army base commander and six soldiers killed in armed attack
An attack by Boko Haram.
A group of armed men stormed a Nigerian army base near the country’s northeastern border with Chad on Sunday evening.
The attack resulted in the death of the base commander and six soldiers, according to Reuters news agency.
Boko Haram
The attack was carried out by elements of the Boko Haram group and the splinter group of the Islamic State West Africa Province, days after a series of coordinated attacks on military sites in other parts of Borno State.
The militants have stepped up their attacks on military bases and looted weapons throughout the region, increasing pressure on the government and President Bola Tinbo, who has vowed to put an end to the years-long violence.
