More than 100 families suffered  losses A devastating incident occurred after bulldozers leveled luxury homes on a disputed plot of land in the Maruri area of Kenya's capital, Nairobi.

The demolition began on Monday, with homes worth millions of shillings being reduced to rubble under heavy security, with police officers deployed to oversee the operation.

Residents stood helpless as their homes, some still under construction, were demolished. The property had long been designated for demolition after a court found that the land it stood on had been illegally subdivided and sold to unsuspecting buyers by a private company.

Demolition crews entered with heavy machinery and demolished the surrounding walls before proceeding to level the high-value houses to the ground.

By the end of the day, the once-admired buildings along the northern ring road had been reduced to rubble, while the stricken homeowners watched helplessly.

Large numbers of police officers were deployed to oversee the operation and enforce a court order that allowed the legally registered owner, Langton Limited, to reclaim the land.

Land dispute in Maroroi

Some of the damaged buildings were still under construction, and the owners were preparing to move into what they considered their dream homes.

Despite the shock, advance warnings had been issued, including public announcements alerting potential buyers to the ongoing ownership dispute.

Court documents indicate that an entity known as Meron Limited illegally subdivided the land.

The court declared the process illegal and ordered the cancellation of all title deeds and certificates issued by the subdivision, paving the way for the rightful owner to regain possession.
