The ambassador affirmed his country’s desire to strengthen the partnership with the region, especially in the areas of developing smart and green cities.

Al-Balawi praised what he described as the "beautiful green city," referring to the urban transformations taking place in the region, and stressed the importance of exchanging experiences between Riyadh Abuja, along with other major cities in the Kingdom, will contribute to achieving sustainable development for both parties.

Nigeria welcomes cooperation

For his part, Wiki welcomed the Saudi initiative, noting the strength of relations between the two countries, especially under the leadership of the President. Paula Tenopou. He affirmed the readiness of the Federal Capital Region to visit Riyadh and explore opportunities for joint cooperation that would achieve mutual interests.

The regional minister explained that the current administration is working to develop Abuja into a modern, globally competitive city, praising the political support provided by the Nigerian government to achieve this goal. He added that cooperation with international partners such as Saudi Arabia will contribute to accelerating development and improving infrastructure and services.

Saudi-Nigerian relations

Saudi-Nigerian relations are witnessing remarkable development, based on strategic partnerships in the fields of defense, economy, and energy.

The two countries signed memoranda of understanding to enhance military cooperation and combat terrorism, and both sides seek to increase trade and investment, with Nigeria focusing on attracting Saudi investments in the energy and agriculture sectors.

Historically, relations extend through cultural and religious exchange, with thousands of Nigerians performing the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages annually.
