Signing a five-year agreement to train tax officials in the continent

The African Tax Administration Forum announced the signing of a new memorandum of understanding with the General Authority for Taxation. EgyptianFor a period of five years, with the aim of strengthening cooperation Regional and tax capacity building across the African continent.

The forum explained via its official page on the social networking site X, and the agreement was signed in Cairo, in the presence of Ahmed Kouchouk, where the forum’s executive secretary, Mary Bean, signed on behalf of the forum, while Rasha Abdel Aal Al-Radi represented the Egyptian side.

Regional center for training African tax personnel

Under the agreement, the Egyptian Tax Authority’s Academy will become a regional training center for tax officials in Arabic and English-speaking African countries, particularly in the North Africa region.

This collaboration aims to develop the skills of tax personnel and enhance their efficiency in dealing with the modern challenges facing tax systems in the continent.

Focus on advanced tax areas

The training program focuses on a number of vital areas, including transfer pricing, VAT compliance, and digital taxes, which are among the most prominent issues that are witnessing rapid development in the global economy.

This agreement comes within the framework of efforts to promote financial and economic integration among African countries, and to support tax reforms that contribute to increasing public revenues and achieving financial sustainability.

This initiative is expected to contribute to raising the efficiency of tax administrations in participating countries, thereby enhancing their ability to meet economic challenges and achieve sustainable development in the continent.

African Tax Administration Forum

The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) was formally established in 2009, and its secretariat is based in Pretoria, South Africa.

The organization primarily aims to enhance the capabilities of tax administrations in African countries, by providing a unified platform for cooperation and exchange of experiences.

Through this, it seeks to combat tax evasion and reduce illicit financial flows, thereby helping member states increase their domestic revenues to finance development projects and reduce dependence on foreign aid.

The forum plays a pivotal role as a unified voice for Africa in international forums relating to tax policies, contributing to the formulation of global tax standards that are appropriate to the continent’s unique challenges.
