Burkina Faso launches its eighth National Tree Day

Traoré calls on citizens to participate in tree-planting campaigns

The President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, planted his tree as part of the National Tree Day celebrations, held annually on June 20th under the slogan "My Land, My Tree." Following the planting, the President delivered a speech in which he called upon every Burkinabe citizen to plant and care for their tree, because "planting a tree contributes to the life of humanity.".

In his speech, the president emphasized the importance of planting trees, saying, “Planting a tree is a very important act.” He added, “Trees help feed humans and animals, provide shade, maintain ecological balance, beautify our environment, and heal both humans and animals.”.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré demonstrated that life on Earth depends on vegetation, citing the relationship between bees and trees. The President explained, “Trees contribute to the nourishment of bees. Their flowers, through their nectar and pollen, contribute to the bees” sustenance. Bees are the insects primarily responsible for pollination on Earth. This means that without trees, there would be no bees, no life, and no food.”.

Given the importance of trees in life, the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, made an appeal, saying: “Planting a tree contributes to the life of all humanity. I call on everyone to take this step, plant at least one tree, and take care of it so that it may benefit humanity.”.
