The center organized National Water research, represented by the Hydraulic Research Institute, affiliated with the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, will conduct a specialized training program from April 11 to 24, 2026, within the framework of supporting bilateral cooperation with the Democratic Republic of Congo, and in coordination with the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development.
The program was titled “Quantitative Monitoring and Measurement of River and Lake Depths”, Targeted Transferring Egyptian expertise in the fields of water resources management and raising the efficiency of participating technical personnel, in order to support sustainable development efforts in African countries.
Participation of an official delegation from the Democratic Republic of Congo
The program saw the participation of a high-level delegation of officials from the Ministry of Environment, Sustainable Development and the New Climate Economy, along with representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they received practical and theoretical training on the latest technologies used in this field.

Strengthening regional partnerships
This program reflects Egypt’s keenness to support African countries in building technical capacities and exchanging experiences, especially in the water sector, which is one of the most important pillars of development, in light of the challenges associated with resource scarcity and climate change.
This cooperation comes as part of Egypt’s efforts to strengthen its relations with African countries, through the provision of specialized training programs that contribute to the development of human resources and the achievement of regional integration in the management of natural resources.
The role of the Research Institute affiliated with the Ministry of Water Resources
The Nile Research Institute leads the scientific efforts to protect and sustainably develop the Nile River, conducting comprehensive studies on sediment transport, water quality, erosion, and sedimentation from Lake Nasser to the Mediterranean Sea.
The institute also assesses the impact of hydraulic installations and develops policies for the sustainable management of rivers. At the same time, the Nile Research Institute focuses on improving water resources management by conducting technical studies on irrigation installations, the hydraulic behavior of waterways, and river morphology.
