The Director General of Customs in Burkina Faso, Yves Kafando, praised the record performance, which was marked by an overall completion rate of 106% in the first half of the year, significantly exceeding initial expectations.
Before the end of the fiscal year in June, economic indicators began to improve, and the reforms that had been implemented and the intensification of the fight against fraud were clearly beginning to bear fruit, pushing the mobilization of state resources to levels that exceeded expectations.

In fact, while revenue forecasts for this month alone were 114 billion CFA francs, the dedication of field staff enabled them to collect 124 billion CFA francs before the end of the fiscal year. This outstanding performance testifies to the precision and efficiency of the customs teams, firmly committed to the momentum of the progressive popular revolution.
This upward trend in June confirms the overall positive trajectory for the first half of the year. The consolidated mid-year figures show the following results:
Forecast for the first half of the year: 657 billion CFA francs
Revenue collected: 699 billion CFA francs
Completion rate: 106%
Target exceeded: 42 billion CFA francs
The Director General of Customs, Yves Cavando, believes these excellent results are a direct outcome of the "cohesion, discipline, and sense of responsibility" demonstrated by everyone involved in the customs chain. In his statement, he offered his warmest congratulations to his colleagues for their effective contribution to strengthening state resources.
There is no room for complacency
However, there is no room for complacency. The head of customs stressed that this performance, although exemplary, should in no way lead to complacency.
Eve Cavando warned: “The challenges of the second half of the year are still numerous, and will require the same, if not greater, determination to consolidate these gains and achieve our annual goals.”.
Thus, the course for the second half of the year is set. Customs officers are urged to maintain this momentum with the same enthusiasm and intensify their efforts to combat fraud, striving for even more ambitious results.
