Malakal Radio Station Facilities Reconstruction Project
In another context, authorities in South Sudan's Upper Nile State have launched a project to rebuild the facilities of the state-owned radio station in Malakal city, aiming to restore government radio broadcasting services that were suspended due to years of conflict.
UNESCO is implementing the reconstruction project in partnership with the South Sudanese government and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Waray Henry, the project supervisor engineer, said that the contractor company (J&S) expects to complete the work and hand over the rehabilitated facilities by next September, despite the logistical challenges facing the transportation of building materials to and from Malakal, according to “Radio Tamazuj.”.
