Egypt and Congo-Brazzaville have close and long-standing relations based on friendship, cooperation and mutual respect, and are witnessing continuous development in various fields, especially at the political and diplomatic levels.
The two countries are also keen to intensify consultations and exchange official visits, reflecting their shared vision on African issues and their commitment to strengthening security, stability and development on the continent, in addition to supporting bilateral cooperation and expanding partnership prospects in various sectors.
In this context, Zoom Africa News had this interview with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Congo-Brazzaville, Ambassador Guy Etoua, who is currently visiting Cairo, where he emphasized the depth of relations between the two countries, noting that there are ongoing political and diplomatic consultations on many issues of common interest.
He added that Cairo plays an important role in supporting African countries and contributes to strengthening cooperation, security and stability within the continent. Here is the text of the interview...
What about your current visit to Egypt?
We have strong relations with Egypt based on friendship and cooperation, and therefore it is important to hold regular meetings and consultations between the two countries. Today we held consultations that addressed many issues of common interest, especially files related to the African continent.
How do you view Egypt's role in Africa?
Egypt has a pivotal role in the continent and in supporting its African brothers, and the presence of diplomats in Egypt provides an important opportunity to exchange views on issues of security and peace and to enhance cooperation between African countries.
What were the main topics you discussed during the consultations?
The discussions were not limited to bilateral relations between Egypt and Congo, but also included a number of African issues, most notably security, peace and cooperation files between the countries of the continent.
How do you evaluate the new administrative capital?
We are pleased that the consultations are being held in the New Administrative Capital, a massive and ambitious project that reflects Egypt's ability to implement major development projects. What we have witnessed today gives us new ideas for strengthening cooperation and learning from this experience, and perhaps implementing similar projects in the future.
What do these consultations represent for you?
This represents an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation with our Egyptian brothers and exchange views on African issues, which will contribute to supporting security and stability and achieving development on the continent.
