50 Years of Relations... Egypt Supports Seychelles Initiative to Develop Children's Technological Skills

Egyptian gift marking 50 years of diplomatic relations

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic Egypt Arabic and the Republic of Seychelles, and within the framework of the close relations and development partnership that brings the two countries together, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, represented by the Egyptian Agency for Development Partnerships, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, have donated a number of laptops to the Republic of Seychelles.

Egypt supports the Seychelles First Lady's initiative to bridge the digital divide for children.

Ambassador Hatem Yousry, Egypt's Ambassador to the Republic of Seychelles, residing in Nairobi, explained that this donation came to support the “Boys Connect” initiative, supervised by the First Lady of Seychelles. The initiative is aimed at school students aged 13-15 through a range of social and developmental activities designed to enhance their digital skills and build their capabilities.

 

He also indicated that this dedication reflects the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' interest in supporting African countries according to their national priorities, and embodies the depth of relations that have brought together Egypt and Seychelles for five decades of cooperation in a number of fields, most notably capacity building and raising the efficiency of officials in Seychelles through the training courses offered by the Agency.

 

Ambassador Hatem Youssef added that the keenness of the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, to enhance sustainable development partnerships with brotherly African countries reflects Egypt's commitment to continuing support for development efforts and capacity building in those countries.

 

For her part, Mrs. Veronique Herminie, the First Lady of Seychelles, reviewed during the handover ceremony the elements of her initiative, which aims to prepare children to deal with modern technology tools, develop their skills in this field, and introduce new concepts to them, foremost among which are teamwork and cybersecurity.

She also expressed her appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptian Embassy for the gift, which is of great importance in light of the celebration of 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Also attending the event alongside the First Lady of Seychelles were Barry Faure, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Seychelles, and Kalsey Belle, Minister of Youth and Sports of Seychelles.
