China and Russia strengthen their military cooperation with joint naval exercises

China and Russia announced they will hold joint naval and air exercises next week in the waters and airspace surrounding the coastal city of Qingdao in eastern China, as part of ongoing military cooperation between the two countries, according to the Chinese Ministry of Defense and official Russian media.

The Chinese Ministry of Defense clarified that the drills will involve naval and air units from both sides, aiming to enhance the level of operational coordination, raise combat readiness, and develop the capabilities of the participating forces to carry out joint missions in maritime environments.

Joint patrols in the Pacific Ocean

The Ministry confirmed that after the completion of the drills, some naval units belonging to both countries will head to areas in the Pacific Ocean to carry out joint naval patrols, as part of the annual military cooperation program between Beijing and Moscow.

The statement indicated that these activities come within the framework of periodic defense cooperation plans between the two countries and do not target any specific country, emphasizing that they fall within the efforts aimed at enhancing regional security and stability.

Growing military cooperation between Beijing and Moscow

Military relations between China and Russia have witnessed remarkable development in recent years, with intensified joint exercises at sea and in the air, alongside the implementation of regular naval and air patrols and the exchange of military expertise.
