In a continent where the pace of economic transformations is accelerating, wealth is no longer just numbers in financial reports, but has become a clearly defined map that leads us to specific cities where opportunities and capital converge.

Recent reports have revealed that Africa is now home to more than 135,000 millionairesDozens of hundred millionaires and an elite group of billionaires are among them, in a scene that reflects the rise of urban centers that have become magnets for the wealthy, including 342 people whose fortunes exceed $100 million, and 21 billionaires.

South Africa's lead is clear

Top Johannesburg The list is considered the economic capital of the continent, as it includes 12,300 millionaires, 25 hundred millionaires, and billionaires. This is due to the depth of the financial market and the diversity of sectors from mining to services.

In second place is Cape Town with 7,400 millionaires, 28 hundred millionaires, and one billionaire, benefiting from its high-end tourism and real estate status, and a business environment that attracts international investments.

Cairo ranks third in the Arab world and Africa

Cairo ranks third with 7,200 millionaires, 30 hundred millionaires, and 4 billionaires, making it the first Arab city on the list. This reflects its population and economic weight, and the expansion of the real estate, energy, and financial services sectors.

East and West Africa on the map

Nairobi comes in fourth with 4,400 millionaires and 10 hundred millionaires, driven by the booming fintech and startup ecosystem. Lagos ranks fifth with 4,200 millionaires, 12 hundred millionaires, and two billionaires, leveraging Nigeria's large population and oil reserves.

Wealth concentrations within South Africa

The Cape Winelands region stands out with 3,600 millionaires and 16 hundred millionaires and billionaires, thanks to luxury real estate and high-end agriculture.

The Durban, Umhlanga and Baletu area also includes about 3,500 millionaires and 11 hundred millionaires, benefiting from maritime and tourism activity.

With 3,200 millionaires and 5 hundred millionaires, Garden Route emerges as a preferred destination for luxury accommodation.

North Africa is on the list

Casablanca is second to last with 2,800 millionaires, 10 hundred millionaires and one billionaire, as it is the financial heart of Morocco and the center of major companies.

In tenth place comes Pretoria with 2,100 millionaires and two hundred millionaires, supported by its administrative and governmental role.

Why do riches accumulate in these cities?

Africa is a hub for the wealthy and offers an advanced financial infrastructure, strong real estate markets, a stable legislative environment, and a high quality of life.
