Military Spokesperson: Large-scale campaign against a number of criminal hotspots in the Southern Military Region

Armed Forces spokesman Colonel Gharib Hafez said that our valiant armed forces, in cooperation with elements of the Ministry of Interior, carried out a large-scale campaign in the Southern Military Zone against a number of criminal hotspots exploited by criminal organizations and networks to carry out illegal activities, including (trafficking in narcotics and weapons - illegal gold mining - illegal immigration - …) which represents a direct threat to national security, in addition to its negative effects on economic stability, the investment climate and sustainable development efforts. .

A number of individuals involved were apprehended.

The statement mentioned that the raids resulted in the arrest of a number of individuals involved in these illegal activities, including (87) Egyptian individuals and (136) foreign individuals, (14) vehicles of various types, wireless communication devices, sums of money in Egyptian pounds and foreign currencies, in addition to quantities of unlicensed weapons and ammunition, and the confiscation of large numbers of equipment and devices used in random mining operations for mineral resources, in addition to the arrest of a number of infiltrators who do not carry official residence documents in the country. The persons and the seized items were referred to the competent judicial authorities to take all legal measures against them in accordance with international conventions and international humanitarian law standards. .

Continuation of intensive field operations

Simultaneously with the start of the campaign, a number of people who had illegally infiltrated Egyptian territory surrendered themselves to security checkpoints and outposts, where they were deported to their countries with consideration for all their humanitarian needs. .
