Zambian Ambassador to Cairo praises Zoom Africa News

The Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to Cairo, Topole Lubaya, affirmed the historical and pioneering role played by the Egyptian state in supporting the independence of African peoples, stressing that Egypt remains the first strategic partner in strengthening ties between the countries of the continent, while appreciating the tireless efforts of the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development (EAPD) in building African cadres.

This came during his speech at the launch ceremony of the “Zoom Africa” website, where the ambassador expressed his deep appreciation for this initiative led by journalist Sally Atef, noting that he had been aware of her efforts for about 8 years when she was touring African embassies to delve into the depths of different cultures, stressing that she had succeeded in discovering the essence
African values and conveying them to the world.

In recognition of Egypt’s supportive role in liberation movements, the main highway in the heart of the capital, Lusaka, was named “Cairo Road.” The names of the leaders who contributed to Zambia’s independence were also immortalized by naming the most important roads and landmarks after them, adding: ”Cairo Road… a symbol of Zambian gratitude to Egypt.”.

From a landlocked country to a connected country
The ambassador presented a new geographical and developmental vision, explaining that Zambia is no longer described as a “landlocked” country as was commonly believed in the past, but has become a “landlinked” country thanks to its openness and communication with its African surroundings, calling for the need to continue the exchange of knowledge among the people of the continent to overcome the challenges of development.
“Zoom Africa: A gateway to spreading the truth
The ambassador praised the Zoom Africa website, considering it a strategic tool that will contribute to opening closed doors and correcting the false mental perceptions that some may have about Africa.
He added: “Through this platform, we will be able to follow our news as Africans as it happens, which will enhance our ability to understand each other.”.

A call for African integration
The Zambian ambassador concluded his speech by emphasizing that development in Africa will only be achieved through solidarity and sitting down at one table to come up with common visions, saying: “We must work together as one bloc to ensure the renaissance of the continent, without leaving anyone behind,” wishing that the “Zoom Africa” website would be a strong and influential voice that reflects the true African aspirations.
