The artistic and cultural circles in Cairo are eagerly awaiting the launch of the special screening of the Sudanese film “Cotton Queen” in the next few days, amid great anticipation to watch this dramatic cinematic work that has achieved widespread acclaim in international forums.

A global journey and well-deserved awards

The film’s screening in Cairo comes after a successful run that began at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, where it had its world premiere on September 3, 2025, as part of the “Critics” Week” section.

His successes did not stop there, as he was recently awarded the Tutankhamun Silver Award at the Luxor African Film Festival 2026, which enhances the status of the rising Sudanese cinema globally.

About the film and its creators

“Queen of Cotton” is the first feature-length novel by author and director Susana Mirghani, and is one of the international productions for 2025.
