250 MW solar power plant

Earlier on Tuesday, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema inaugurated a $300 million hybrid renewable energy project at the Kindu Farm in Chongwe District, marking one of the country's largest solar energy investments.

The project, a collaboration between Kindu Farm and UK's Globe Lake, comprises a 250 MW solar power plant coupled with a 150 MW battery energy storage system. The hybrid design will provide clean energy during the day and distributeable electricity after sunset, improving grid stability as part of Zambia's efforts to diversify its energy sources and reduce its reliance on hydropower.

In his remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony, President Hichilema said that this investment embodies the strength of the relationship between the Government of the Republic of Zambia and the British Government.
