Algerian-Chadian relations

Currently, Algerian-Chadian relations are characterized by a strategic shift towards a comprehensive economic partnership, as the two countries seek to activate the “Trans-Saharan Road” project, which aims to link Chad to the Mediterranean Sea via Algerian ports.

According to reports, this trend was reinforced by the signing of dozens of agreements in the fields of energy, mining and the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on the role of the Sonatrach company in developing the Chadian hydrocarbon sector, making Algeria a vital partner in supporting sustainable development in the Sahel region.

On the political and security level, coordination between Algeria and N’Djamena represents a key pillar for the stability of the African Sahel region, as the two countries share a common vision regarding combating terrorism and transnational organized crime.

Algeria plays a supportive role in the stability of Chad through mechanisms of political consultation and military cooperation, with a focus on resolving regional conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means, away from external interventions that could destabilize the region's security.

In recent days, Algiers witnessed the signing of 27 economic and security cooperation agreements between Algeria and Chad during a meeting of the Joint Governmental Committee, where the two sides agreed to establish a bilateral mechanism for political consultations aimed at ensuring more regular dialogue between the two countries’ capitals.
