Livingstone witnessed the convening of the 69th Annual General Meeting and accompanying seminar organized by the Engineering Institute of Zambia, with a prominent official and professional presence, headed by the President of the Republic, Hakainde Hichilema.

Presidential message to boost the economy through the engineering sector

During his speech, the Zambian President stressed, according to a statement from the Zambian Presidency, the importance of the role played by the engineering sector in driving national development, noting that the engineering community in the country represents a model of excellence, innovation and commitment to professional values.

He also stressed the need to maintain strict standards in project implementation, to ensure quality and sustainability in various vital sectors.

Hishilima called for strengthening cooperation between the government and professional institutions, especially the Engineering Institute, with the aim of supporting development plans and expanding the scope of investments, noting that the current stage is witnessing promising economic opportunities that require a high level of readiness from national cadres.

He also urged engineers and professionals to take advantage of new business opportunities and work on developing their skills in line with changing market demands, stressing that innovation and future-oriented thinking are two essential pillars for building a strong and sustainable economy.

This event comes at a time when Zambia is seeking to strengthen its infrastructure and develop its productive sectors, which places a pivotal role on engineering institutions in implementing major projects according to the highest international standards.

The participants in the symposium pointed to the importance of exchanging experiences and strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, which contributes to achieving comprehensive development and improving the quality of life for citizens.

At the conclusion of the events, the Zambian President renewed his commitment to supporting the engineering sector, stressing that building modern Zambia depends on establishing the values of quality, integrity, and innovation, and on joint action by all parties to achieve an ambitious national vision for a more prosperous future.
