The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Liberian capital, Monrovia, celebrated the seventy-fourth anniversary of the July 23 Revolution in a ceremony that reflected the strong Egyptian-Liberian relations. A large number of senior Liberian officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international and regional organizations, as well as business leaders and the Egyptian community attended.

The event was hosted by the Ambassador of Egypt to Liberia, Ahmed Abdel Azim, in the presence of the Liberian Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, the Minister of Defense Geraldine Janet George, the Minister of Commerce and Industry Mawine Diggs, the Minister of Agriculture J. Alexander Nuetah, along with a number of senior officials, as well as the exceptional participation of former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and member of the International Advisory Board of the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding and the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development.

Ambassador Ahmed Abdel Azim affirmed, in his speech, that the July 23 revolution represents a pivotal moment in modern Egyptian history, as it laid the foundations for the modern national state and consolidated the principles of independence, sovereignty, and social justice. He pointed to its historical role in supporting national liberation movements in Africa and the region, and strengthening Egypt's regional and international standing, reflecting its firm commitment to the causes of liberation, development, and peace.

The ambassador explained that the coincidence of the revolution's anniversary with Liberia's Independence Day celebrations carries important significance, reflecting the shared values that bind the two countries, foremost among them the pursuit of independence, consolidation of national sovereignty, and the achievement of development and prosperity. He affirmed the depth of diplomatic relations between Cairo and Monrovia and the continued coordination and consultation between the two countries on various issues of common interest.

The Ambassador reviewed Egypt's efforts in supporting development in Liberia through capacity-building programs and training courses implemented by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, in cooperation with Egyptian national institutions. These efforts aim to qualify Liberian cadres in various sectors and enhance the performance of state institutions, contributing to the implementation of national development priorities.

For her part, Liberian Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti affirmed that the historical and diplomatic relations between Egypt and Liberia span about seven decades, praising Egypt's role in supporting Liberian development efforts through training and qualification programs for national cadres, which supports the implementation of the AAID National Comprehensive Development Plan. She also affirmed her country's keenness to expand areas of bilateral cooperation with Egypt in various sectors, serving the mutual interests of both countries.
