The President of South Sudan inspects the J1 project and emphasizes the need to expedite its completion.

The President of South Sudan is monitoring the resumption of one of the most prominent government projects in Juba.

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir made a field visit to the J1 construction project site in the capital Juba to review the progress of the work and assess the level of advancement made following his recent directives to resume the project after a long period of inactivity.

The visit came as part of the Presidency’s follow-up on the strategic projects that the government relies on to strengthen the infrastructure and government institutions. The President conducted an inspection tour inside the site, during which he was briefed on the various stages of implementation and the ongoing work that was recently resumed after a hiatus of about 18 months.

Salva Kiir is personally overseeing the J1 project after his return to life.

The President was accompanied during the tour by Marek Nanga Marek, Chief Administrator at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, and James Deng Wal, Executive Director at the Office of the President, who are responsible for overseeing the current phase of the project and following up on the implementation of the intensive work plan aimed at accelerating completion in the coming period.

During the visit, President Salva Kiir listened to technical briefings from those in charge of the project regarding the percentage of completion and the challenges that faced the implementation work during the period of suspension, in addition to the steps taken to ensure the completion of the project according to the specified timetables.

The President emphasized the importance of proceeding with the project at an accelerated pace, stressing the need to adhere to quality and efficiency standards to ensure its objectives are met. He also noted that the resumption of work reflects the government's commitment to continuing the implementation of vital development projects that contribute to strengthening state institutions and improving services provided to citizens.

Project J1 is viewed as one of the important projects that receives direct attention from the Presidency, given its expected role in supporting government infrastructure and providing modern facilities that meet the needs of institutional work in the country.

This visit comes at a time when the government of South Sudan is seeking to accelerate development and complete a number of projects that have been delayed in the past period, as part of its efforts to enhance stability, improve government performance and provide a suitable environment to support national development plans.
