Mali is experiencing an escalating crisis, since armed men launched a surprise attack across large parts of the West African country, resulting in the death of the defense minister.

On Sunday, sources from the family of prominent Malian lawyer and politician Mohamed Ali Tall reported that masked men kidnapped him overnight in the capital, Bamako, in an incident that has sparked widespread controversy within Mali, especially given the political and security tensions the country is experiencing.

Family sources said that two masked men came to Tal's house and forcibly took him to an unknown location, adding that the family filed an official complaint accusing unknown individuals of carrying out a kidnapping.

He assaulted his wife and confiscated her phone.

Family sources indicated that Tal’s wife tried to document the incident by taking pictures of the accident, but she was mistreated by the kidnappers before her mobile phone was seized.
