Egypt and Russia discuss strengthening strategic cooperation and following up on major projects.
The most prominent of these is the Dabaa station.

Egypt and Russia discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and advance the strategic partnership between the two countries, in light of the implementation of a number of major projects, most notably the Dabaa nuclear power plant and the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
This came during a meeting between Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty and Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, on the sidelines of the minister’s official visit to Moscow, where the two sides discussed prospects for developing cooperation in various fields.
Abdel-Aati praised the remarkable momentum in Egyptian-Russian relations, stressing the importance of building on existing strategic projects, especially in the fields of energy, industry, grains, tourism, oil and gas, in addition to cultural and educational cooperation.
Implementation of joint projects
The Egyptian minister also stressed his country’s keenness to accelerate the pace of implementing joint projects, most notably the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, in addition to strengthening cooperation within the framework of establishing a logistics center for grains and energy in Egypt.
For its part, this meeting reflects the continued high-level coordination between the two sides, especially following the visit of the Russian Deputy Prime Minister to Cairo in September 2025, which saw the participation of a government delegation and businessmen, and resulted in understandings to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
This comes within the framework of the two countries' orientation towards expanding the economic and strategic partnership in a way that serves common interests and supports development efforts in various vital sectors.
Meeting of representatives of major Russian companies
Following this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad met with representatives of major Russian companies that will participate in the Russian Industrial Zone project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the logistics center for grain and energy, with the participation of Alexei Matushansky, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, within the framework of efforts to strengthen economic and trade relations with Russia, and to expand the prospects of cooperation with the private sector by exploring new opportunities for joint cooperation in various fields.
