By expanding Egyptian representation, the African Tourism Council strengthens cooperation within the continent.

The African Tourism Council continued ATB Reinforcing its commitment to the “One Africa” vision through a leadership team that reflects the growing importance of regional cooperation, sharing experiences and strengthening African partnerships in developing the continent’s tourism sector.

The appointment of Ambassador Rami Wahid as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the African Tourism Council, and the appointment of Ambassador Nancy Abdel-Hadi as Chief Operating Officer (COO), will enhance Egypt’s contribution to leading the council, alongside Hisham Zaazou, the former Egyptian Minister of Tourism, who has held a leading and advisory role within the council’s structures for years.

Egypt is one of the most prominent tourism success stories in Africa.

The growing Egyptian presence reflects the Council’s belief in the importance of learning from African success stories and utilizing the accumulated expertise in some countries to support other countries that are still in the stages of developing and growing their tourism sector.

Egypt is one of the most prominent tourism success stories in Africa, with extensive experience in tourism marketing, attracting investments, developing infrastructure, managing heritage sites, hotel training, air connectivity, and developing tourist destinations.

As many African countries continue to develop their tourism products and enhance their competitiveness, there is a growing need to strengthen cooperation among African countries themselves, ensuring the exchange of knowledge and expertise and benefiting from successful experiences within the continent.

Ambassador Nancy Abdel-Hadi, Chief Operating Officer of the African Tourism Council, said that one of the biggest opportunities available is to strengthen African-African cooperation, because the continent has a huge wealth of experiences, knowledge and success stories that countries can share with each other, whether in tourism marketing, education and training, attracting investments, digital transformation, sports tourism or sustainable development, and Africa has a lot to offer itself.

The African Tourism Council continues to advocate for stronger partnerships between African countries and tourism institutions, contributing to capacity building, skills development, enhanced institutional cooperation, and support for the growth of the tourism sector across the continent.

Under the leadership of Chairman Cuthbert Nkob, CEO Ambassador Ramy Wahid, and the Council’s leadership team, the African Tourism Council is working to launch initiatives aimed at promoting tourism cooperation between African countries, improving air connectivity, supporting the development of tourist destinations, and increasing the continent’s competitiveness on the global stage.

The Africa One Destination vision is based on a firm conviction that the success of any African country in tourism is a gain for the entire continent, and that cooperation and the exchange of experiences are more important than competition, given their role in achieving economic development, creating job opportunities, attracting investments, and promoting cultural exchange among the peoples of the continent.

The expansion of Egyptian representation within the African Tourism Council represents a new opportunity to enhance cooperation between Egypt and its African brothers, and to benefit from accumulated Egyptian expertise in supporting tourism development efforts across the continent.

As Africa continues to establish itself as one of the world’s most promising tourist destinations, the African Tourism Council remains committed to building bridges between African countries, promoting joint cooperation, and working towards a more integrated and prosperous tourism future for the continent.

It is worth noting that the African Tourism Council is a continental organization that works to promote Africa as a unified tourist destination.
