Liberia's president holds bilateral talks with Erdoğan to strengthen strategic partnership with Turkey

The President of the Republic LiberiaJoseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr., held high-level bilateral talks with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as part of his current official visit to Turkey, which aims to strengthen diplomatic relations and expand the horizons of economic cooperation between the two countries.

President Erdoğan received his Liberian counterpart at the Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara, where both sides affirmed the strength of the historical friendship between Liberia and Turkey and discussed ways to elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level.

The two presidents exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, affirmed their shared commitment to supporting peace, stability, and sustainable development, and strengthening cooperation between the governments of the two countries.

President Boakai expressed the appreciation of the Liberian government and people for the friendly relations that have linked the two countries over the past years, affirming his administration's desire to expand areas of cooperation to support Liberia's development priorities within the ARREST agenda for inclusive development.

The Liberian President affirmed that his country is open to investments and is working to provide an attractive environment for responsible investment, calling on Turkish companies to increase their investments in priority sectors, including energy, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism, and other strategic sectors capable of creating job opportunities and driving economic growth.

For his part, President Erdoğan renewed Turkey's commitment to strengthening its partnership with Liberia, affirming his country's readiness to expand cooperation through increased trade, investments, technical assistance, and support for development efforts.

Erdogan praised the Liberian government's reforms to improve governance, enhance the investment climate, and drive sustainable economic transformation.

As part of the visit, President Boakai is also holding a series of meetings with prominent Turkish businessmen and investors, aiming to review investment opportunities available in Liberia and encourage the Turkish private sector to expand its investments in the country, thereby contributing to the establishment of new partnerships and increasing investments in vital sectors of the Liberian economy.

The Liberian President is accompanied during the visit by the Minister of State without portfolio, Haja Momoka Ballah, National Security Advisor Samuel Kofi Woods, along with a number of senior government officials.

President Boakai is scheduled to conclude his official visit to Turkey and return to Liberia after the visit program ends.
