Chad and Burkina Faso are accelerating preparations for the second session of the Joint Committee Between the two countries, in a move that reflects the keenness of both sides to strengthen bilateral cooperation relations and develop its institutional mechanisms.
In this context, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Abroad, Dr. Dangbey Guilingar Evariste, held a meeting on Monday morning with the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Chad, Boukari Zoungrana, to discuss the arrangements underway for the upcoming meeting of the Joint Committee.
Progress in preparations
According to a statement issued by the Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides reviewed the progress made in the preparations and discussed ways to update the draft agreements and texts to be signed during the session, in line with the priorities of joint cooperation and to support partnership paths in various fields.
The consultations come within the framework of N'Djamena and Ouagadougou's orientation towards strengthening bilateral coordination, opening up broader horizons for cooperation in a way that serves common interests and supports integration on issues of mutual interest.
In another context, it is witnessing Chadian-Algerian relationsA new push towards strengthening bilateral cooperation, with the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno, holding official talks with the Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Gharib, who is on an official visit to Chad, coinciding with the launch of a strategic project in the energy sector aimed at supporting the country’s electrical infrastructure.
The talks, held at the Toumai Palace, followed the groundbreaking ceremony for the 40-megawatt Farsha thermal power plant project in the capital, N'Djamena. The two sides reviewed the course of bilateral relations and ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, in addition to following up on the implementation of joint agreements signed in a number of vital sectors.
In the same context, the Farsha neighborhood in the first district of N’Djamena witnessed, on Monday, June 8, 2026, the official launch of the construction works of the thermal power plant, under the supervision of the Chadian Prime Minister, Ambassador Lamay Halina, and his Algerian counterpart, Sifi Gharib, in the presence of two high-level official delegations from the two countries.
The inauguration ceremony included the signing of the project implementation agreement between the relevant authorities, before laying the foundation stone to signal the start of work, in a step that reflects the two countries’ commitment to strengthening economic and developmental cooperation, especially in the energy sector, which represents one of the most prominent developmental challenges in Chad.
