COMESA, in partnership with the World Bank Group, officially launched the $25 million Ascent Renewable Energy Project Preparation Facility (APF) on the sidelines of the Energy Access Investment Forum 2026.

This facility is designed to accelerate the introduction of renewable energy to the electricity grid in East and Southern Africa by supporting project developers, mobilizing investment, and promoting the optimal use of energy in agriculture andIndustry and Trade.

A future-oriented and fundable vision

Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Gaddah, Assistant Secretary-General of COMESA, noted that this facility is a crucial step to ensure that renewable energy projects in our region are forward-looking and bankable.

Managed by Signum Capital, Ascent is expected to provide aAbundant capital On a large scale, it has driven the green transformation in Africa.
