Ambassador Abdel Rahman Raafat, the Egyptian Ambassador to Djibouti, accompanied by Colonel Ahmed Hamed, the Egyptian Defense Attaché, met with Colonel Mohamed Jama Douala, Commander of the Republican Guard Forces in Djibouti.
Presidential elections in the Republic of Djibouti
The Egyptian ambassador began the meeting by offering congratulations on the smooth conduct and success of the presidential elections in the Republic of Djibouti, which resulted in the re-election of President Ismail Omar Guelleh as president of the country, reflecting the great confidence he enjoys among the Djiboutian people.
The meeting also discussed arrangements for the upcoming visit of Colonel Mohamed Jameh Douala to his second home, Egypt, as part of an official invitation.
The meeting also touched on an exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest to Egypt and Djibouti.
At the end of the meeting, the commander of the Republican Guard forces was presented with a commemorative gift from the Egyptian Armed Forces.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had a telephone conversation with President Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that President Sisi offered his sincere congratulations to the President of Djibouti on the occasion of his victory in a new presidential term in the elections that took place during April 2026.
President Sisi affirmed that this victory reflects the firm confidence of the brotherly people of Djibouti in his wise leadership and his tireless efforts to achieve development and prosperity in his country.
The official spokesperson added that President Ismail Omar Guelleh appreciated President Sisi’s congratulations, stressing the depth of the fraternal and strategic ties that unite Egypt and Djibouti and their peoples.
