Al Ahly of Egypt are close to participating in the African Champions League after Abu Rida's intervention.

Intensive efforts by Hani Abu Rida and Lekjaa to ensure Al-Ahly's participation

Private sources confirmed to Africa News that the African Football Confederation is about to announce an increase in the number of Egyptian clubs participating in African club championships to 6 clubs instead of 4, with the first, second and third participating in the Champions League, while the fourth and fifth and the Cup winner are guaranteed participation in the Confederation Cup.

Abu Rida stated that Egyptian clubs regularly reach the finals of African championships and that the current permitted number is no longer suitable for the development of football in Egypt and North Africa.

Zoom Africa has learned that Abu Rida’s proposal has strong support from Fouzi Lekjaa, the most powerful man in the African Union, along with Mossepe, the president of the Union.
