According to Arab and international media reports, a White House official said that the two sides also agreed to reject Iran's possession of a nuclear weapon, stressing that this position represents a key point of convergence between Washington and Beijing.

The official added that Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his country's opposition to any attempts to militarize the Strait of Hormuz, or to impose fees or restrictions on its use, noting the importance of keeping the shipping lane open for international trade.
He explained that the Chinese president has shown increasing interest in purchasing additional quantities of American oil, as part of Chinese efforts to reduce dependence on supplies passing through the strait.

These statements come in conjunction with US President Donald Trump's two-day visit to China, the first by a US president to Beijing in nearly a decade.

Following two hours of talks, Trump and his Chinese counterpart concluded a summit that included extensive discussions on trade, Taiwan, and a number of contentious issues between the two countries.

During a state dinner, the Chinese president described the visit as “historic,” asserting that China’s resurgence and the “Make America Great Again” slogan could coexist in parallel.

For his part, Trump said the talks were positive and constructive, noting that relations between the two countries are witnessing continuous development despite the existing challenges.
