The Egyptian Foreign Minister and his British counterpart discuss strengthening cooperation in Africa.

Supporting stability and development

Dr. Badr Abdel-Aati met Foreign Minister International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, with Baroness Jenny Chapman, British Minister of State for International Development and Africa, on Tuesday, May 19, where the meeting addressed ways to enhance tripartite cooperation in the African continent, and support stability and development in Africa.

Enhancing bilateral relations

Minister Abdel-Aati praised the growing momentum in bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of working to elevate bilateral relations to broader horizons in various political, economic and trade fields, and encouraging increased British investments in Egypt in the coming years, emphasizing the Egyptian approach to strengthening cooperation and integration with African countries, by focusing on priority projects and transferring successful national development experiences.

Regarding the situation in Sudan, Minister Abdel-Aati briefed the British Minister on Egypt’s tireless efforts within the framework of the Quartet Mechanism, stressing the importance of quickly reaching a humanitarian truce as a prelude to a comprehensive ceasefire, and launching a comprehensive political process with purely Sudanese ownership, with priority given to establishing safe humanitarian corridors and ensuring the unhindered delivery of aid, reaffirming Egypt’s firm position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the preservation of its national institutions, and rejecting the establishment of any parallel entities.
