The Civil Aviation Authority announces the operation of the air traffic management system and control tower at Juba Airport. 

After years of disruption

The Civil Aviation Authority announced the imminent official operation of the Air Traffic Management (ATM) system and the new control tower at Juba International Airport, in a move described as a qualitative shift in the aviation sector after more than four years of the system remaining out of service despite its installation being completed.

A significant shift in the country's ability to manage its airspace

The authority confirmed that the operation of the system will represent an important leap in the country’s ability to manage its airspace more efficiently, after a long period of operational gap that affected the air traffic control system and technical supervision of air traffic.

The efforts of Presidential Envoy Adut Kiir Mayardit

The system was activated following efforts led by Presidential Envoy Adut Kiir Mayardit, who helped facilitate the financial procedures required to restart the system.

Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority: Moving to a new air traffic control facility soon

The Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Ayi Garang Deng Ayi, said that the Authority is preparing in the coming weeks to move to a new air traffic control facility, signaling the start of a new operational phase in air traffic management at Juba International Airport.

The operation of the system is expected to contribute to restoring full capacity to manage the national airspace, enhancing air safety standards, and raising the efficiency of operational control, in line with international standards adopted in the civil aviation sector.

This step comes as part of the government's efforts to modernize the infrastructure of the air transport sector and improve aviation and air navigation services in the country.
