As part of the Simando 2040 program to promote local manufacturing of mineral resources

The President of the Republic of Guinea, President Mamadi Doumbouya, announced the actual start of construction work on the “Chalco” aluminum refinery in the Bofah region, as part of the “Simando 2040” program.
This project is the third aluminum refinery to be launched as part of the state’s plan to promote the local processing of mineral resources within Guinea and increase the economic return from the mining sector.
On April 8, 2022, the President stressed the need to accelerate the pace of local processing of mineral resources, while obligating mining companies to fulfill their commitments regarding the establishment of refineries, in order to ensure greater benefit for the national economy and the Guinean people from natural resources.
