The Arab League urges Trump to act quickly to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the Arab League, warned that the situation in the region is heading towards a very dangerous point, and is approaching a moment of explosion on more than one level due to the state of tension and deadlock that the Palestinian issue is suffering from on the one hand, and the state of uncalculated escalation and brinkmanship policies that characterize the Gulf crisis on the other hand.
Fahmy said that all parties have a responsibility to maintain security and stability in the region, and that the US administration is particularly required to bear its responsibilities in this regard, especially.
He added: President Trump took the initiative to launch the peace plan last October to end the war on Gaza, the second phase of which is still stalled nine months after its launch, and 2 million Palestinians in Gaza are still living in dilapidated tents, besieged by disease and hunger.
Continued: While the symbols of the occupation government speak of a long settlement, Israel expands its land holdings in the sector.
Trump's meeting with the Prime Minister of the occupation
On the eve of the anticipated meeting between President Trump and the Prime Minister of the occupying government, the Secretary-General called on the American President to curb the extreme ambitions of the Israeli government to thwart the peace project in Sharm el-Sheikh, to stop its repeated transgressions in Jerusalem, and to stop it from unleashing the unhinged settler groups to attack and kill defenseless Palestinians in the West Bank.
He continued: “This government is striving to completely eliminate the Palestinian presence through settlement expansion and the pursuit of the abhorrent displacement project, and by preventing the Palestinian Authority from providing essential services, by withholding huge sums of Palestinian resources.”.
The Secretary-General of the League added that President Trump had a pivotal role in reaching the twenty-point plan, which was endorsed by the Arab League and the UN Security Council, with the aim of rebuilding the Gaza Strip and paving the way for opening a path that leads to the realization of the Palestinian state.
Fahmy stressed the importance of the US president confronting the Israeli evasiveness and procrastination aimed at emptying the peace plan of its content, extending the current situation in Gaza indefinitely, and implementing de facto annexation in the West Bank.
Warning of the dangerous situation in the Middle East
In the context of warning of the seriousness of the situation in the Middle East, and in the Arabian Gulf region in particular, the Secretary-General of the League called for a swift return to the commitments agreed upon between the United States and Iran and the resumption of negotiations.
He explained that this comes with the aim of ending the crisis, restoring stability to the region, respecting the sovereignty and interests of neighboring countries, and opening the waterways for safe passage in the Arabian Gulf and Bab al-Mandab.
Nabil Fahmy stressed that the latest round of escalation by Iran and the Houthis against the Gulf Arab states and Jordan is strongly rejected. He emphasized that the transgressions and attacks must be stopped immediately, within the framework of a policy that begins with de-escalation, a return to the diplomatic track, and full and strict respect for international law and international legitimacy.
