Construction and paving work has begun on the Bankoni-Dialakorogi-Safo-Dabane-Nosoumbougou road in Mali, where the company responsible for this important project is actively working on the ground, much to the delight of the local population.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, accompanied by the Minister of State Property and the Minister Delegate for Defense and Veterans Affairs, conducted a field visit on Saturday, July 18, 2026, to oversee the progress of the work.

Completion of detailed design studies

The ministers noted the resumption of work, including the mobilization of the company and the monitoring team, the completion of detailed design studies, the identification of potential stone extraction and quarrying sites, and the rehabilitation of some damaged parts to make them passable.

The completion of this important road project will greatly contribute to improving the movement of people, by linking National Road No. 3 (Bamako – Kati – Kolokani – Djene – Djema – Nioro) with National Road No. 27 (Bamako – Koulikoro – Banamba), passing through the cities of Bankoni, Diallokorogi, Savou, Dabane and Nosoumbougou.

This project will also allow heavy transport trucks to avoid the accident-prone route through Sami County, and facilitate the transport of agricultural products from the region.

It should be noted that the contract for the execution of the works was awarded to the EGK/EITPB consortium for the value of 22,881,355,932 CFA francs, excluding taxes and customs duties, with the project to be completed within 15 months.

The engineering firm “Gidor-IC” is responsible for monitoring and supervising the work at a total cost of 675 million CFA francs (excluding taxes), to be completed within 17 months.

The project is fully funded from the national budget.
