Malik Diaw seeks to strengthen parliamentary cooperation with Cuba and Palestine

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the President of the National Transitional Council, Malick Diaw, held two separate meetings with diplomats from countries friendly to Mali: Viviana Hernandez Fonseca, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Mali, and Hassan Al-Balawi, Ambassador of the State of Palestine. During these meetings, the two diplomats affirmed their commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between their countries and Mali.

Viviana Hernandez Fonseca, who was the first to be greeted, indicated upon leaving the meeting that the discussions focused on the historical relations between Havana and Bamako, as well as the prospects for strengthening cooperation in several strategic sectors, including health, culture, education, sports and human resource development.

The Cuban diplomat presented the president of the National Transitional Council with a letter from the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power in Cuba.

An invitation was also extended to President Malick Diaw to participate in the parliamentary forum held as part of the first international symposium commemorating the centenary of the birth of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, scheduled to take place from August 10 to 13, 2026.

After that, the President of the National Transitional Council, Mr. Hassan Al-Balawi, received the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, during which he affirmed his country's unwavering support for the Malian people and expressed his desire to strengthen political and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

He also called for organizing a parliamentary visit to the Republic of Mali, in addition to a Malian parliamentary mission to Palestine, with the aim of revitalizing bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in various areas of common interest.

For his part, President Malick Diaw thanked his guests for their solidarity and reaffirmed Mali’s commitment to cooperation based on mutual respect, solidarity and partnership between peoples.

The two diplomats concluded the meeting by offering their fraternal greetings and wishes for peace, stability and prosperity to the Malian people and authorities.
