Kenyan authorities have launched a wide-ranging investigation into a cybersecurity incident that affected the official website of the country's president, while the government has confirmed that there is no evidence so far of a breach of sensitive data or loss of official information.

Kenya’s Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy said the incident was detected by the government’s Information and Communications Technology Authority, which quickly activated cybersecurity response protocols to contain the problem and limit any potential repercussions.

Urgent measures to contain the crisis and restore the site

The Kenyan government explained that it had taken a number of technical measures to address the incident, including temporarily restricting access to the presidential site, with the aim of conducting specialized digital examinations and investigations to determine the nature and source of the attack.

Authorities confirmed that cybersecurity teams are working in cooperation with relevant government agencies and technical experts to conduct a comprehensive digital forensics analysis, with the aim of determining how the incident occurred and whether there were any attempts to access other government systems.
