Egypt's ambassador to Uganda told Zoom Africa News: Our relations with Kampala are developing... and the artists' visit to Uganda is a step towards enhancing tourism integration.
He emphasized the depth of Egyptian-Ugandan relations.
The Egyptian Ambassador to Uganda, Ambassador Munther Selim, affirmed the depth of Egyptian-Ugandan relations in various fields, noting the two countries’ keenness to enhance joint cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both peoples.
He added in statements to Zoom Africa News that the visit of a delegation of Egyptian artists to Kampala represents an important step towards strengthening cooperation and tourism integration between the two countries, noting that the goal is not limited to promoting Ugandan tourism only, but extends to building a real model of ”tourism integration” between the two sides.
The ambassador explained that Egypt, with its extensive experience and great potential in the tourism sector, can complement the unique natural resources that Uganda abounds in, especially in the heart of the African continent, in a way that achieves common interests and creates new opportunities for tourism development.

Salim explained that this initiative reflects the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and Uganda, noting that the idea began during the Africa Travel Fair in 2023, and developed significantly following the visit of the Egyptian Minister of Tourism to Uganda, which contributed to turning it into practical steps on the ground.

The Egyptian ambassador to Uganda pointed to the importance of the cultural dimension of this visit, stressing that Uganda is characterized by a rich cultural diversity, as it includes a mix of cultures and traditions that reflect the depth of Ugandan society, which opens the way for a fruitful cultural exchange between the two peoples.

In a related context, the ambassador touched on aspects of governmental cooperation between the two countries, explaining that there are joint projects being implemented directly between the two governments, most notably the project to clean and combat weeds in Lake Victoria, which is being carried out in cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Ugandan Ministry of Environment and Water.

He stressed that this project not only aims to improve water flow and facilitate navigation, but also carries an important social dimension, which is to support the capabilities of the Ugandan state and enhance its efficiency in managing its natural resources sustainably, which will reflect positively on local communities.
