A Chadian association calls for broad national mobilization to ensure the success of the third population census.
Emphasizing the importance of statistical data in supporting development

The “Vision for Cultural and Social Development” Association in Chad called for broad and active participation in the third general census of population and housing, which is scheduled to begin soon at the national level, stressing that the success of the process represents a fundamental step towards strengthening development planning and improving public services.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by its president, Dr. Ruqaya Abdul Rahman Omar Al-Mahi, the association said that the population census is one of the most important tools that countries rely on in building development policies based on accurate and up-to-date data on population, social and economic conditions.
Database to support public policy
The association explained that the general census will provide comprehensive information that will help the authorities identify the real needs of the population and direct resources more efficiently, which will positively impact the level of services provided to citizens throughout the country.
The statement added that the census results will contribute to supporting planning for vital sectors including education, health, housing, infrastructure and basic services, as well as providing important data that enhances economic development efforts, attracts investments and helps distribute development projects according to the needs of each region.
A call for families to cooperate with the statistics teams.
The association urged citizens to fully cooperate with the field teams tasked with carrying out the census, by providing the required information accurately and facilitating the task of the statistical agents during their visits to families and homes.
She stressed that the success of the process depends on the level of citizen participation and response, given that the accuracy of statistical data forms the basis upon which government decisions and future plans are built.
A special appeal to women and a pivotal role for society
The president of the association made a special appeal to Chadian women to contribute to the success of the national process, noting the important role that women play within the family, and their ability to provide information about its members and their living conditions.
Religious and traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and the media have also called for intensifying efforts to raise awareness of the importance of the population census and to encourage citizens to participate in it, in order to ensure the achievement of its national and developmental goals.
A step towards more effective development
Observers believe that the third population census represents an important milestone in Chad's development path, as it will provide accurate indicators of the demographic, economic and social changes that the country has witnessed in recent years.
This data will help decision-makers develop programs and policies that are more responsive to citizens' needs, supporting sustainable development efforts and improving the level of public services in various regions.
