Kenyan Prime Minister on Africa Day: Our unity is the key to the future

Kenyan Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi confirmed that the day Africa It is not just an occasion to celebrate heritage, but also an important milestone to recall the shared journey of the peoples of the continent, and to look forward to a future that reflects the great potential that Africa possesses.

In his speech on the occasion of Africa Day 2026, which coincides with the sixty-third anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity, Modavadi said that the continent has made remarkable progress over the past decades, but the road is still long towards achieving comprehensive peace, prosperity and regional integration.

Various events bring together African countries

This year's celebrations featured diverse events that brought together African countries in a scene reflecting the continent's cultural richness, through displays of music, food, fashion and heritage, thus promoting a spirit of unity despite the great diversity among its peoples.

The Kenyan Prime Minister stressed the importance of continuing to draw inspiration from the vision of the founding leaders and committing to implementing the goals of Agenda 2063, noting the need to translate this vision into practical steps, including strengthening intra-regional trade, building strong institutions, providing greater opportunities for youth, and increasing investments to achieve sustainable economic growth.

Intensify efforts to prevent conflicts

He called for intensified efforts to prevent and resolve conflicts within the continent, while supporting affected communities and promoting African solutions to crises through regional institutions such as the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region.

Modavadi concluded his remarks by emphasizing that Africa’s future must be made by its own people, stressing that joint action and investment in human resources, along with harnessing collective potential, represent the path towards building a stable and prosperous continent, capable of being an active and influential force on the international stage.
