Intensive military and industrial coordination between Egypt and Congo to enhance joint defense capabilities

Cairo and Kinshasa strengthen defense partnership

Witnesses Relations The Egyptian-African Union has made a tangible leap in military and industrial cooperation, with Cairo announcing ambitious plans to expand its exports of locally manufactured military products to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This step comes within the framework of a comprehensive Egyptian strategy aimed at strengthening its presence in African markets and supporting strategic partnerships in the field of defense manufacturing, in order to contribute to achieving economic and security integration among the countries of the continent.

Strengthening industrial cooperation

In line with this approach, Major General Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, received Lieutenant General Panza Mwilambwe Goule, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and his accompanying delegation at the organization’s headquarters.

The talks addressed ways to enhance joint cooperation mechanisms and to benefit from the advanced technological capabilities possessed by the Arab Organization for Industrialization to meet the needs of development projects and defense and security industries in Congo.

The proposed areas of cooperation in various manufacturing fields were also reviewed, with emphasis on opening new export outlets in implementation of the directives of the Egyptian political leadership to open up prospects for integration with African brothers.

A shared vision for technology localization and development

For his part, the Congolese Chief of Staff expressed his country’s great appreciation for the role played by the Arab Organization for Industrialization as the industrial backbone of the Egyptian state.

During his inspection of the Authority’s product exhibition, Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe emphasized Kinshasa’s keenness to strengthen partnership relations with Egypt in various industrial and developmental fields, pointing to the importance of coordinating joint efforts to achieve integration and localize the latest manufacturing technologies within the African continent in a way that serves mutual interests.

High-level military coordination to confront the continent's challenges

In a related development, Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa met with his Congolese counterpart on April 6, 2026, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense. During the meeting, the two sides discussed a range of issues of mutual interest, focusing on the latest regional and international developments and their direct impact on security and stability in Africa.

The meeting also addressed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various military fields, amidst official celebrations reflecting the depth of the historical ties that bind the armed forces of the two friendly countries.
