Chad strengthens its partnership with the French Development Agency to attract investments

The Chadian government discussed with the group French agency Development aims to expand joint cooperation and enhance investments directed towards vital economic sectors, within the framework of N'Djamena's efforts to accelerate the pace of development and support the growth of the private sector.

This came during a working session held in the French capital, Paris, which brought together the Chadian Minister of State and Minister of Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, Tahir Hamed Angilene, and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Guebolo Vanga Mathieu, with the Director General of the French Development Agency Group, Jean-Baptiste Sabatier, and a number of senior officials of the group, at the headquarters of the agency’s «Proparco» Foundation.

Energy and agriculture are priority sectors.

The meeting addressed opportunities to strengthen partnerships in a number of priority sectors for the Chadian economy, including energy, agriculture, agro-industries, microfinance, export trade and promising productive value chains, as well as water and infrastructure projects that support economic growth.

Officials from the French Development Agency affirmed their commitment to continuing to support development priorities in Chad, with a focus on strengthening the role of the private sector as a key driver of economic growth, job creation, and the structural transformation of the national economy.

Both sides also stressed the importance of developing the business environment and encouraging local and foreign investments, which would contribute to increasing production, improving the competitiveness of the Chadian economy, and promoting sustainable development.

These talks come within the framework of the Chadian government’s moves to expand the base of international partnerships and attract more development funding and investments, in support of the implementation of the national development plan «Chad Connection 2030», which aims to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic growth, improve the investment climate, and develop strategic productive sectors.
