Ndoulnouji Alex Naimbaye, Vice-President of the National Steering Committee for the Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration and Reconciliation (DDRR) Program in Chad, launched on Tuesday in N’Djamena the work of a workshop dedicated to preparing the protocol of procedures relating to determining eligibility and ineligibility criteria, and mechanisms for directing beneficiaries towards the DDRR program.

The importance of establishing transparent and objective mechanisms

This two-day workshop is part of a project funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with the participation of representatives from government institutions, technical and financial partners, and international organizations involved in implementing the program, including agencies affiliated with the United Nations system, the International Organization for Migration, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the COPE organization.

During her opening remarks, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights affirmed that the program represents one of the essential components for supporting peace efforts and promoting stability and social cohesion in Chad, stressing the importance of establishing transparent, objective and credible mechanisms for identifying and guiding beneficiaries.

A participatory approach based on inclusivity and methodological rigor

She also noted the support provided by international partners, particularly the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the United Nations system, the International Organization for Migration, and technical bodies supporting reintegration programs.

She called on the participants to adopt a participatory approach based on inclusiveness and methodological rigor, in order to ensure the development of a national protocol that is agreed upon and adapted to the specificities of the Chadian context.

At the end of the session, the Chadian government, led by Mohamed Idriss Déby Itno, renewed its commitment to continue supporting this process, before officially announcing the start of the workshop.
