China and Mozambique announce enhanced cooperation and sign several agreements.

Mutual trust

Xi Jinping emphasized that relations between China وMozambique It has always been characterized by mutual trust and continuous support since the establishment of diplomatic relations, and is considered a model for cooperation between China, Africa, and the Global South. He added that strengthening this cooperation meets the aspirations of both peoples and aligns with the trend of promoting solidarity in the "Global South.".

Strengthening economic cooperation

The Chinese president indicated his country’s readiness to enhance synergy between development strategies and expand areas of cooperation to include infrastructure, energy and minerals, in addition to agriculture, new energy, the digital economy and artificial intelligence.

He also stressed the importance of leveraging the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the Year of People-to-People Exchanges between China and Africa 2026 to drive common modernization.

On the international front, Xi called for enhanced coordination between the two countries within the United Nations and international organizations, and for working towards a multipolar world order and more inclusive economic globalization.

He also noted China’s readiness to cooperate with African countries to address the repercussions of international conflicts, especially in light of the expanding effects of the Middle East crises.

Mozambique confirms its support for China 

For his part, President Chapecoense affirmed that China is a “true friend” of Mozambique, praising Beijing’s continued support for his country. He announced Mozambique’s commitment to the “One China” principle and its readiness to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, agriculture, and energy, thus opening a new chapter in bilateral relations.

Signing of more than 20 agreements

Following the talks, the two presidents witnessed the signing of more than 20 cooperation documents, covering the Belt and Road Initiative, global security, trade, cultural exchange, healthcare, and media. The two sides also issued a joint statement affirming their commitment to building this new framework for relations.

The visit concluded with an official banquet at the Great Hall of the People, hosted by Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, in honor of the Mozambican president and his wife, in a scene reflecting the depth of the growing relations between the two countries.
